The English summer has been one full of joy for most Cricketing fans. England finally wrestled the world number one status from India, a position many thought impossible two or three years ago. India are now trying to reclaim that title and they could conceivably if they win against West Indies and then against Australia in late December.
One thing we do know, cricket fans across India bay for blood when there own team fails to win, especially when sent in as short-priced favourites. Like many punters, they are short on memory and have very sensitive hip pockets. On Friday, India host the West Indies in a one day game that may well fall under that description. Betbubbles have India at 2/5 to win while quoting the West Indies at 9/4.
The West Indies have performed well this tour although without luck. An ounce of luck in one of these matches and they will surprise the hosts with a thumping. We think they are close to winning, however, the best odds are through betting exchanges. Bet against India and you’ll collect with a draw or a West Indies win.
Another match that could have a bearing on the world standings is that between Australia and New Zealand. With the Aussies drawing the series in South Africa, and with a short series to come against India, they could move up in the ranks with a couple of good wins – they could even threaten India’s position at number two. Australia have made a good start to day one in the first test and bookmakers have them at 4/9 with the Kiwis at 15/2. The draw is at 4/1 and should be considered. The fickle weather in Brisbane could see this game end without a result, especially if the Kiwis bat well on day two. Our tip – back the draw at 4/1.
